I'm really fascinated with Rene's Green Thing Project. We're featuring it at 49media - it'll be great to see where it goes - and I really think it will go!

49Media
So what's 49media all about? Well, I built this mobile PhotoSearch tool based on Yahoo's search api. When you install it on your phone you can search for images and they're displayed formatted to the size of your phone's display. Now it turns out you can use Yahoo's api as long as you're not making any money off of it. Well, that makes sense, right? Yup.
So I write Yahoo an email asking what I need to do so I can sell the product - and in the meantime I just make it a free download. But what happens? Nothing. Yahoo doesn't respond.
So I start thinking about how to find images myself - start thinking about blogs and feeds and all that cool stuff - start thinking about photos, then audio and then video. And then I start tinkering and out comes 49media.
And now it's taking off. Hm. So now I'm wondering: do I switch the mobile PhotoSearch app over to the 49media search (customizable feeds are in there already)? But then I read Russ's stuff about the mobile web and that gets me to thinking about XHTML-MP and whether that would make any sense with 49media?

utterly inadequate intelligence
This is a quote from A. Einstein that I just found - I was actually fortunate enough to have figured this out at some point (probably while I was preparing for the final exams of my physics masters degree, man did that prove to me how utterly inadequate my intelligence is!):
One has been endowed with just enough intelligence to be able to see clearly how utterly inadequate that intelligence is when confronted with what exists. If such humility could be conveyed to everybody, the world of human activities would be more appealing.

I want a quarter inch hole!
Just read this article - it really has some amazing thoughts on what to think about when creating or improving on a new product. It's pretty easy to come up with an idea for a product - but does it really do what potential customers want? Like drills - people don't buy a drill because they want a drill. No - they want a hole in something and they need a drill to make the hole. So it's about focusing on what jobs people need to get done.
Now this really is something to think about - ...

Mobile Websites
Ok, so now people (Russ, Arieanna) are talking about mobile websites - and where they've been, where they are and where they are going. I agree that this stuff has to be going somewhere - but where? Sure, all of those phones out there do it, really well it seems - but I guess the thing that is missing to jumpstart the whole thing is the money - the Telcos have their thumbs on everything and will probably be the only ones really earning any money with this. And you can bet on it that they won't be handing out any of that Money to anyone. So now what? How about Adsense for Mobile? But there have to be sites to link to for that. I guess there won't be any 120x600 skyscrapers there soon... just kidding. Anyway: there sure is a lot to think about here - and I'll be doing that for sure!

Change
It was great to read Anita's post about change - change is such an important aspect in life -I think you're not alive if you don't accept and embrace change. Change is the only way to grow. Change can be so scary, especially because you don't know where it's going, but if you think positive and work hard, change will surely bring new and absolutely wonderful things into your life!
On that note - I found a wonderful post titled How to be creative. This has such wonderful insights into what it means to be creative, innovate and generally being looked upon as being crazy for believing in oneself.

Wait wait: Viagra helps at high altitude
I'm not quite sure why I'm posting this - I'm listening to Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me on NPR where a guy just mentioned that he'll be taking Viagra to help him cope with high altitude while mountain climbing.
And no - he won't be using it to help him cope with what you think... at least that's what he claims.
